It’s time for some introductions! This summer, CrunchTime welcomed five interns to the team. We are so grateful for their hard work, enthusiasm, and fresh ideas. Read on to meet our interns and learn more about the people that will soon be shaping the future of the tech world.
Meet Dave Walsh, our Learning and Development Intern! Dave is from Norwell, Massachusetts and has a B.A. in Secondary Education & History from Boston College, as well as an M. Ed in Curriculum & Instruction.
Why did you want to work at CrunchTime?
I’m looking to move my work experience beyond the classroom and CrunchTime stood out to me because of my family’s history of working in the hospitality industry. Looking further into the company, I was excited to join a growing company that works with so many of the brands and franchises that I ate growing up. As for the work itself, I’m appreciative of how the Learning and Development Team took a chance on me as an older intern and are setting me up for success!
Describe one interesting/rewarding project you’ve worked on so far:
My Master’s degree is in Curriculum and Instruction, which is establishing what learning materials need to be taught and implementing the most effective practices for knowledge and skill acquisition. I have been able to put this to use as I am working on developing a new system of effective quiz questions at the end of CrunchTime's MainCourse modules.
What’s something you’ve learned while being here?
I come from a non-technical background so I have taken every opportunity to dive into the tools the training team uses. I have spent the most time in Articulate Rise, drafting a module outlining the process to create effective quiz questions.
Why did you want to work at CrunchTime?
I was most excited by the chance to gain experience in multiple types of marketing, rather than focusing on just one area. I’ve been able to work on projects within product, content, and social media marketing at CrunchTime. This has been a valuable experience because I now have a better understanding of their individual importance, as well as how they all work together!
Describe one interesting/rewarding project you’ve worked on so far:
One of the most interesting projects I’ve worked on is the case study I wrote on one of our clients. It was challenging to create a story for a business that I had little familiarity with but rewarding to see it come together in the end!
What’s something you’ve learned while being here?
Something that sticks out is the importance of consistent messaging! Even with details as seemingly small as social media hashtags, using the right tone and wording is key.
Why did you want to work at CrunchTime?
I wanted to work at CrunchTime to learn more about the foodservice industry and gain hands-on experience working in a business. I really like learning about the different features of CrunchTime as well as the variety of dishes from restaurants.
Describe one interesting/rewarding project you’ve worked on so far:
One interesting project that I’ve worked on so far is compiling information about the menus from a company’s restaurants. It was fun learning about a cuisine that I’m not familiar with, so now I have a bunch of new dishes to go and try!
What’s something you’ve learned while being here?
I learned that asking for help is encouraged! There are no dumb questions and people are always willing to help if you need it.
Meet Caroline Ghelli, one of our Client Services Interns! Caroline is from Milton, Massachusetts and is an incoming freshman at the University of Vermont.
Why did you want to work at CrunchTime?
I wanted to try something out of my comfort range and work in a corporate setting, I love the people on my team, and they have been so welcoming.
Describe one interesting/rewarding project you’ve worked on so far:
I have updated the fields in Client Success to show a more current representation of our client’s information.
What’s something you’ve learned while being here:
I have learned how to use Excel better than I knew coming into my position.
Meet Ian Matthews, our Finance Intern! Ian is from Acton, Massachusetts and is a Finance student at Syracuse University.
Why did you want to work at CrunchTime?
I am very interested in the restaurant industry, however, I would like to pursue a career in the finance field. Because of this, I thought CrunchTime had a great product that really interested me. Since I started working, I have enjoyed the company culture. I found that everyone is very amenable and respectful to each other which is something I highly value at a company.
Describe one interesting/rewarding project you’ve worked on so far:
This summer, I’ve been working on the billing cycles of CrunchTime customers. While this may not sound very exciting, the process has taught me a lot about the details of customer contracts and the importance of clarity in these documents. It’s been valuable to learn about something I have little experience in.
What’s something you’ve learned while being here?
My time at CrunchTime has taught me a lot about how to interact in a more professional manner. I have also learned about many different perspectives on the finance world that would otherwise be difficult to learn about, such as the contract data project I am currently working on.
